Spray Foam Insulation FAQ
Straight answers about cost, foam types, safety and what to expect.
How much does spray foam insulation cost in North Texas?
Most local contractors price spray foam by the board foot (one square foot, one inch thick). Published DFW ranges run roughly $0.45–$0.75 for open-cell and $1.00–$1.75 for closed-cell. Your price depends on the area, foam type, thickness and access — our cost guide walks through it, and the estimate is free.
Is spray foam worth it in Texas heat?
In most homes, yes. Sealing the roofline brings the attic close to indoor temperature, so ducts and the AC unit up there are no longer working in a 130°F+ space. Homeowners typically notice steadier temperatures, fewer drafts and lower summer bills.
Open-cell or closed-cell — which do I need?
Open-cell is the usual choice for attics, rooflines and interior walls in homes. Closed-cell is better for metal buildings, crawl spaces and anywhere moisture or condensation is a concern. Many projects use both. See open-cell vs. closed-cell.
How long does installation take?
Most attics and average-size homes are finished in one to two days. Larger shops, barndominiums and commercial buildings are scheduled around the size of the job — your estimate will include a timeline.
Do I need to leave the house?
Plan to be out during spraying and for a period afterward while the foam cures and the space is ventilated. We will give you the specific re-entry time for the product we use on your job.
Is spray foam safe once it cures?
Once fully cured, spray foam is inert. The important part is following the product’s re-entry time and ventilation guidance during and right after installation — we explain this before the job.
Does spray foam help with allergies and dust?
Sealing air leaks reduces the dust, pollen and outdoor air that get pulled into the house through gaps.
Can spray foam go in walls that are already closed?
Some closed walls can be filled, but most retrofit work is done in attics, crawl spaces and rim joists. We will tell you honestly what is practical for your home.
